It's only 20 minutes drive from Hida Takayama to the ancient town of Hida Kokufu, rich in nature and history. The Utsue Fourty-Eight Waterfalls was selected as one of hundred natural spots in Japan for its beautiful landscape. Ankokuji Temple has a Kyozo, or sutra-pitaka (storehouse), constructed in 1408 during the Muromachi Period, and has been designated as a national treasure. Senju-Kannon, Ryuto-Kannon, and Sei-Kannon, all of which are masterpieces of Enku, are housed in Seihoji Temple. You will surely feel welcomed by the warm hearted people of Hida Kokufu.
